This major exhibition of new works by Brian Fojcik offers the first opportunity to see his brooding series of previously unseen large scale paintings, inspired by a recent visit to Poland where he spent several weeks travelling by bike through the remote countryside.
Born in Kirkcaldy, Fife, Brian Fojcik initially studied at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art, Dundee, 1979-1984. He has won numerous awards including the John Milne Prize in Painting, and The Maude Gemmell Hutchison Prize (Royal Scottish Academy Exhibition Award 1992). His work is held in the collections of The Scottish Arts Council, The Fleming Collection, Kirkcaldy Art Gallery and in numerous private collections in the USA and Europe
Edward Gage - The Scotsman
“A perceptive observer, a sensitive and powerful draughtsman...With their echoes of Daumier or early Van Gogh, Fojciks observations go far beyond mere study of sporting life...”
W Gordon Smith - The Scotsman
“Fojcik is an outstanding draughtsman, mixing media to achieve drama
and tension in bold but fluent and vivid monochrome.”
